Biggest names in Asian and international entertainment arrive for
China’s leading annual music event

(Macao, April 21, 2017) – Sponsored by The Venetian® Macao, one of China’s most influential and long-standing music awards, the 21st Channel [V] China Music Awards and Asian Influential Power Grand Ceremony was held at the resort hotel for the sixth consecutive year. The night included a glamorous red carpet event featuring a who’s who of the entertainment industry followed by the awards presentation ceremony held in the Cotai Arena on Thursday night.

The Venetian Macao’s lobby was the backdrop for hundreds of excited fans as they tried to get a glimpse of their favourite singers walking the red carpet. Celebrity guests including Jackie Chan, Joey Yung, Hacken Lee, Leo Ku, Twins, Jane Zhang, Christine Fan, Jeff Chang and Da Zhang Wei were welcomed by Dr. Wilfred Wong, president of Sands China Ltd. British star Rita Ora and Japanese boy band JINTAKA also attended the red carpet event and ceremony.

A total of 45 awards were presented at the star-studded ceremony, including ‘Most Popular Male Singer (HK & Taiwan)’, ‘Most Popular Female Singer (HK & Taiwan)’, ‘Most Popular Male Singer (Mainland China)’, ‘Most Popular Female Singer (Mainland China)’, , ‘Global Chinese Film Song Extraordinary Contributions Award’ ‘Asian Most Popular International Artist’ and ‘Asian Most Popular Japanese Group’ among others.

The China Music Awards was originally launched in 1994 and every year the event gathers the nation’s top music industry talent in host cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Hong Kong, Macao and Taipei. It is the only Chinese music awards show telecast both nationally in China and around the world.

Since 2012 The Venetian Macao has co-organised the China Music Awards with Star Group Ltd. China. This latest sponsorship has once again put Macao in the international spotlight, part of Sands China’s multi-tiered entertainment strategy of establishing Macao as Asia’s entertainment hub by bringing in world-class entertainment, sports, art and cultural events. The company’s 15,000-seat Cotai Arena has firmly established itself as one of the top entertainment destinations in southern China, hosting high-profile awards shows, alongside performances by some of Asia and the world’s biggest music stars over the past ten years.
