Po Ching Fang

Fang holds a master's degree in artistic creation from the National Tainan Institute of Art and a Ph.D. in artistic creation from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Australia. He is also an assistant professor in the department of process design at the National Taiwan University of the Arts.
He won the gold medal in the 1st Taiwan Ceramics Gold Awards Living Tea Competition, the silver award in the 3rd Taiwan Ceramics Gold Awards Tableware Competition, and the 4th Taiwan Golden Pot Award Ceramics Design Competition. He has held solo exhibitions in Beijing, Kaohsiung, Hsinchu and Australia, and his works have been collected by the National Gallery of Malaysia, the Taipei County Yingge Ceramics Museum, and the Springfield Museum of Art in Missouri USA.

Artist Biography

Creative Concept:

A series of Fang’s functional ceramic utensils that act as a vehicle to suggest and express his personal viewpoint that utilitarian object is in an awkward situation within the contemporary creative environment. The production of his functional ceramic works consists the usage of sculptural elements with the way of thinking in term of contemporary art creation.
