“Now You See Me 2” Gets Sands Resorts Exclusive Screening

From Lionsgate’s Summit Entertainment Label, ahead of Asian Release

(Macao, June 10, 2016) - The action thriller film “Now You See Me 2” from Lionsgate’s Summit Entertainment label held an exclusive screening at The Venetian® Macao last Friday, 3 June, 2016. As the first country in Asia to screen the movie, Macao was the ideal choice since many of the scenes in the movie were actually shot on location in and around Macao. The Venetian Macao and Sands® Macao were also featured in several scenes. Audiences will recognise the iconic neon-sign of Sands Macao, and the Great Hall of The Venetian Macao also featured with its iconic curved escalators in the second sequel of the action movie. Joining invited guests on the red carpet were William So, Sammy Leung, Eliza Sam, Hubert Wu, Avon Lee, Ali Lee and Soler.

Directed by Jon M. Chu, starring a cast of high-profile Asian and global A-listers, including Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Daniel Radcliffe, Lizzy Caplan, Jay Chou, with Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman, the star-studded “Now You See Me 2” is the sequel to Now You See Me that earned over USD$350 million in the box office worldwide back when it was first released. The picture is from a screenplay by Ed Solomon and a story by Ed Solomon & Peter Chiarelli.

Bringing Hollywood mega productions like this and its stars to Macao is just one of many ways that Sands China Ltd. works to further promote the city as an international tourist destination, as well as generating global awareness of Macao.

“Sands China is very pleased to be supporting ‘Now You See Me 2’, and we are honoured that they chose us as the first venue in Asia to host this exclusive screening,” said Dr. Wilfred Wong, president of Sands China Ltd. “To have world-class Hollywood productions come to Macao shows that the city is on the global map as a centre of tourism and leisure, and as a company we will continue to bring film shoots, movie premieres, concerts, award ceremonies and more to the city to put Macao in the international spotlight.”

The Four Horsemen as they are known in the movie return for a second mind-bending adventure, elevating the limits of stage illusion to new heights and taking them around the globe. One year after outwitting the FBI and winning the public’s adulation with their Robin Hood-style magic spectacles, the illusionists resurface for a comeback performance in hopes of exposing the unethical practices of a tech magnate. The man behind their vanishing act is none other than Walter Mabry, a tech prodigy who threatens the Horsemen into pulling off their most impossible heist yet. Their only hope is to perform one last unprecedented stunt to clear their names and reveal the mastermind behind it all.

Now You See Me 2” will be released on the big screen in Hong Kong and Macao on June 8, 2016 via UA Films (a subsidiary of Lark Group Holdings).

In addition to “Now You See Me 2,” other movies and television episodes that have been filmed at the integrated resort include Chow Yun-Fat’s “From Vegas to Macau,” Chinese-U.S. romantic comedy “My Lucky Star” starring Zhang Ziyi and Wang Leehom, the Bollywood telefilm series “Teri Meri Love Stories,” Hong Kong films “All’s Well Ends Well”, “Break Up Club” and “Return of Cuckoo,” Taiwanese TV series “Summer’s Desire,” and the Korean TV series “Boys Over Flowers.”
