Exclusive STOMP Preview Thrills Media Before Debut Show at The Venetian Theatre from Sept. 23

Don’t miss the chance to catch the ultimate feel-good show at The Venetian Macao

(Macao, Aug. 29, 2016) – An exclusive preview of the world-famous STOMP phenomenon with founder Luke Cresswell and other performers was held at St. Mark’s Square, The Venetian Macao today, before the group’s shows kick off at The Venetian Theatre from Sept. 23 – Oct. 9, 2016.

Since 1991 STOMP has been thrilling audiences with a show combining percussion, dance, theatre and comedy with an exhilarating soundtrack inspired by the commotion of daily life. Performers use everyday items such as lighters, bin lids and even kitchen sinks to create a feel-good percussive symphony. There have so far been over 20,000 performances to more than 12 million people in 53 countries.

Tomos Griffiths, executive creative director of entertainment, Sands China Ltd., joined Luke on stage to express the excitement and anticipation felt about the upcoming performances, and played along during an impromptu “jam” using the brooms featured in one of the show’s most famous routines.

STOMP performers then gave the amazed crowd a preview of the award-winning act using poles, pipes and brooms also utilised in the show. The audiences that gathered at St. Mark’s Square were thrilled to see the colourful, high-energy display and there were audible cries of appreciation.

Speaking at the event, Luke said that he was delighted to be bringing the show to Macao, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to perform at The Venetian Theatre and explained the inspiration behind STOMP.

“It’s great to be here. Rhythm and humour are very much part of our daily lives, wherever you are in the world, and we try to convey this in an exciting and fun way in all our shows.”

Tomos also added how thrilled Sands China is to be hosting STOMP’s amazing percussion experience in Macao.

“As one of the most exciting acts around, shows like STOMP are an important part of Sands China’s multi-tiered entertainment strategy to help Macao become a centre for tourism and entertainment. We will continue to dedicate ourselves to offer entertainment in Macao by bringing more top shows for both locals and visitors to enjoy.”

Since STOMP was conceived the show has got through over 50,000 boxes of matches, 30,000 brooms, 20,000 bins, 10,000 drumsticks and 25,000 litres of black paint applied with 737 paint rollers. Originally from the UK, the show has been touring the globe for 25 years. There are up to five STOMP companies performing internationally at any time: one on tour in North America, another throughout Europe, one touring the rest of the world, one in New York (now in its 22nd year) and one in London (now celebrating its 13th year).
