Sands China Participates in Caritas Macau Charity Bazaar for Sixth Straight Year

(Macao, Nov. 6, 2016) – Sands China Care Ambassadors participated in the Caritas Macau Charity Bazaar over the weekend, marking the sixth year in a row Sands China has helped raise funds for Caritas’ annual event.

On Saturday, Dave Horton, global chief marketing officer for Las Vegas Sands Corp. and Sands China Ltd. presented a cheque for MOP 200,000 to Caritas Macau Secretary-General Paul Pun Chi Meng at the bazaar’s opening ceremony. The donation will be used by the non-profit charitable organisation to support its operational expenses. Since 2004, Sands China has contributed over MOP 3.6 million to Caritas Macau through charity dinners and bazaars. The funds help support Caritas Macau’s efforts to develop and implement social services in the community.

More than 100 Sands China Care Ambassadors volunteered during the two-day charity bazaar at the Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre, where they manned a game booth and gave out prizes, including accommodation at The Parisian Macao, tickets to the integrated resort’s Eiffel Tower, first class Cotai Water Jet ferry tickets, and food and beverage vouchers.

Sands China Ltd. is donating all proceeds from the booths – without deducting costs – to Caritas Macau to help them provide relief and rehabilitation services and support to disadvantaged groups in Macao.

The Sands China Care Ambassador programme aims to give Sands China staff an opportunity to serve the local community by helping to make Macao a better place to live, while contributing to its development. With over 1,500 volunteers coming together from across all Sands China properties – Sands Macao, The Venetian Macao, The Plaza Macao, The Londoner Macao and The Parisian Macao – the Sands China Care Ambassadors have contributed more than 9,500 voluntary hours of community service in over 100 activities since the programme was founded in August 2009.

Through a variety of community activity formats, memorable experiences are created for the volunteers and the beneficiaries, moving the hearts of all involved. Efforts include reaching out to communities through events like friendly competitions and creating arts and crafts with people with intellectual disabilities; acquiring enriching experiences like learning sign language and experiencing a silence workshop; delivering festive joy in visits to live-alone elderly during Chinese New Year; and enjoying happy outings that bring underprivileged families to various exhibitions at The Venetian Macao. Sands China Ltd. considers initiatives like these central to its commitment towards community outreach and service.
