Conrad Macao Celebrates Earth Hour 2021
by Turning Off External Façade Lights

(Macao, March 29, 2021) – Conrad® Macao celebrated Earth Hour 2021 from 8:30–9:30 p.m. local time on Saturday, March 27 by turning off its external façade lights, dimming non-essential lighting and using a spectacular 'Conrad Earth Hour 2021' display made up of recycled materials and 65 candles to illuminate the lobby.

Since Conrad Macao opened in April 2012 it has launched various green programs to show its commitment to environmental awareness. In 2013 the hotel posed a friendly challenge for other hotels in Macao to join a monthly and not just annual lights-out event as part of Earth Hour's global 'I Will If You Will' campaign. Over the past eight years the hotel has supported and observed 'Earth Hour, Every Month' while providing remarkable guest experiences. This year, the hotel continues the traditional switching off all non-essential lighting on the first Tuesday of each month while encouraging guests, partners and neighbors to support the initiative.

In addition Conrad Macao's commitment to ongoing green initiatives includes launching recycled PET water bottles as well as phasing out of single-use plastics. In the area of electricity conservation, the hotel completed the installation of energy efficient motors (electronically commutated motors) to optimize cooling and heating systems in 2020, which combined with lower visitation to Macao due to the global pandemic has resulted in a decrease in consumption of 31% compared with 2015. These efforts have been recognized by Conrad Macao receiving the Macao SAR Government's prestigious Macao Green Hotel Gold Award three times.
