The Londoner Macao Sponsors Major Art Event 'Time Is On My Side – 2021 Greater Bay Area Young Artists Scheme' Competition

(Macao, July 16, 2021) – To support the Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2021 series of events organised by the Macao government, Time Is On My Side – 2021 Greater Bay Area Young Artists Scheme competition is open for submissions from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The submission deadline is Aug. 27.

A total of 24 winners in two categories, painting and photography, will share cash prizes totalling over RMB 1 million (approx. MOP 1.2 million) and receive an invitation to the award ceremony. The winning art pieces will be displayed at The Londoner® Macao. 

The competition is organised by the Greater Bay Area Young Artists Scheme Organizing Committee; co-organised by Faculty of Humanities and Arts at Macau University of Science and Technology; and Art Museum Of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts; and sponsored by The Londoner Macao. Supporting organisations include China Academy of Art; Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts; and Sichuan Fine Arts Institute.

The objective of the competition is to focus on Chinese cultural interaction and the exchange between young artists in the Greater Bay Area, providing them with a high-profile platform. The event aims to demonstrate the inclusivity of the cultural industries in the region and highlight the potential of the younger generation through showcasing their painting and photography. The theme 'Time Is On My Side' is also an invitation to participants to 'explore your creativity and imagination".

Time Is On My Side – 2021 Greater Bay Area Young Artists Scheme competition will be in two categories: painting and photography. Entry is open to individuals or teams aged 18 to 45 from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Winners will receive RMB 25,000-100,000 and an award certificate, with six first prize winners, eight second prize winners, and ten third prize winners.

Six renowned art experts will make up the Judging Committee, which will be led by Guan Huaibin, Dean of School of Intermedia Art of China Academy of Art. Other members include Hu Bin, Deputy Director of Art Museum of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts; Song Zhenxi, well-known mainland curator; Dr. Wang Lan, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Humanities and Arts of Macau University of Science and Technology; Ng Fong Chao, Curator of Macao Museum of Art; and Alexandra Grimmer, international curator.

After the evaluation by the judging panel, 100 works will be shortlisted, with the prize presentation and exhibition opening ceremony to be held in September. The 24 winning works will then be exhibited at The Londoner Macao.
