Sands China Hosts Guangdong Medical Team Assisting Macao's Mass Nucleic Acid Testing

(Macao, Aug. 8, 2021) –
Sands China Ltd. has been proactively cooperating with the Macao SAR government's epidemic prevention policy during the pandemic period. With the support of the central government and under the coordination of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR, Guangdong province recently organised a group of more than 300 medical professionals to assist Macao with its mass nucleic acid testing programme. During this period, Sands China provided comprehensive service arrangements for the medical team at one of its integrated resorts during their stay.

With the city's mass testing programme now basically complete, a farewell ceremony was held Sunday for the Guangdong medical team, who were given gift bags as a token of appreciation for their hard work. Around 100 guests attended the ceremony, including Ao Ieong U, secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR; Yan Zhichan, deputy director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR; representatives of the Guangdong medical team; Chai Hongliang, deputy director of the Zhuhai Health Education Office; Song Li Hong, director of the general office of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR; Wan Su Cheng, director general of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR; Alvis Lo Iek Long, director of the Health Bureau of the Macao SAR; and Dr. Wilfred Wong, president of Sands China Ltd.

Dr. Wong said: "In response to a potential outbreak, the Macao SAR government acted swiftly and decisively to launch a series of emergency measures, which has won public support from all sectors of society. Our deepest gratitude goes to all Macao healthcare workers for their selfless dedication, and to mainland authorities for sending more than 300 medical professionals to Macao for support – together helping the city successfully complete its mass testing programme in three days. Sands China was honoured to have the opportunity to host the Guangdong medical team during their stay and to play our part in assisting in the fight against COVID-19 and safeguarding our community."
