 Sands China Ltd. and BOC Macau Sign New Credit Card Agreement


UnionPay co-branded credit card to be launched in October


(Macao, Sept. 15, 2021) – 
Sands China Ltd. and Bank of China Macau Branch announce that they have joined hands to issue the first co-branded UnionPay credit card targeting Macao residents. The signing ceremony was held yesterday at the Bank of China Building, with the agreement signed by Dave Sun, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Sands China Ltd. and Chan Hio Peng, Deputy General Manager of Bank of China Macau Branch. Through the collaboration, the two parties will leverage their respective strengths to provide the public with better and more convenient leisure, entertainment and payment experiences.

The BOC Sands Lifestyle co-branded UnionPay credit card is expected to be officially launched in October, with a focus on supporting the recovery of the tourism industry. It offers an array of high-end leisure and entertainment privileges and benefits, which will help further build Macao as a diversified world centre of tourism, culture and leisure.

The cooperation between Bank of China Macau Branch and Sands China Ltd. is in line with the initiative of "jointly promoting connections between electronic payment systems in the Greater Bay Area" as proposed in the Outline Development Plan for Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and the newly released general plan for building a Guangdong-Macao in-depth cooperation zone in Hengqin. 

Through UnionPay's extensive payment network, Bank of China Macau Branch will offer cardholders payment convenience and various benefits and privileges, develop new digital payment products to better meet residents' local and cross-border financial needs, facilitate the interconnection of people and capital in the region, and contribute to the development of the Greater Bay Area and the Guangdong-Macao in-depth cooperation zone in Hengqin.
