Benediction ceremony at Nam Wan Lake
(Macao, May 22, 2017) – Sands China Ltd. held a benediction ceremony for its dragon boat teams Friday at Nam Wan Lake Nautical Centre, an annual tradition before each year’s Macau International Dragon Boat Races.
The races begin May 27 this year at Nam Wan Lake, and Sands China is sending four teams in categories of male standard dragon boat, male small dragon boat, female standard dragon boat, and female small dragon boat.
“For Sands China, participating in the dragon boat races is a highlight for us each year – it’s a fun and exciting event that brings our team members together in camaraderie and friendly competition to support this long-standing annual cultural tradition,” said Antonio Ramirez, senior vice president of human resources for Sands China Ltd. “And we’re very pleased to see a strong showing again this year by both our male and female team members, as we have all-women’s teams in both standard and small dragon boat races again this year.”
Friday’s benediction ceremony was attended by Ramirez; and Amy lee, vice president of human resources. The company executives offered their encouragement and support to the dragon boat team members, and dotted the eyes of the dragon boats to symbolically awaken the boats’ spirits. They also gave red packets to the dragon boat team members for good luck in the upcoming races, which begin May 27 at Nam Wan Lake.
