‘The State of Dust-Free – Water Poon Works’ Exhibition Launched at Grand Atelier at The Grand Suites at Four Seasons

(Macao, Apr. 30, 2021) – Sands China Ltd. and Four Seasons Hotel Macao today jointly held an opening ceremony for an art exhibition entitled The State of Dust-Free – Water Poon Works at Grand Atelier, The Grand Suites at Four Seasons.

Taking place May 1-19, 2021, the exhibition, which is open to the public, will showcase Water Poon’s compelling photography of Huangshan and landscape paintings of Guilin in China. More than 50 of the renowned artist’s pieces, including ink paintings, photos and sculptures will be on display. Highlight artworks include “Cluster of Mountains”, “The Best Landscape in the World”, “Huangshan” and “White”.

Poon is especially interested in Chinese ink painting due to his passion for Chinese heritage. His simple yet deeply poetic paintings capture the natural beauty and tranquillity. His work is informed by a personal philosophy connected to water, which is also his given English name, and he believes water represents a power for good that selflessly benefits all things.

The name of the exhibition refers to a Chinese philosophical concept when the mind is uncluttered with extraneous issues and can achieve a sense of peace and clarity. It is in this state that Mr. Poon captures the beauty of nature, imbuing his work with a deceptively simple lyrical style which epitomises the essence of Chinese art. His pursuit of excellence and refinement complement The Grand Suites at Four Seasons, which delivers guests an elegant yet inspiring experience.

Artist Water Poon said: “I am delighted to visit Macao again, a unique city, and hope residents and tourists can connect with art and culture while enjoying leisure, shopping and entertainment. Among those who attended the opening ceremony were: artist Water Poon and his wife; Wang Yuwei, Assistant Director of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR; Sam Hou In, Head of the Department of Exhibitions and Museums of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR; Lok Hei, President of Macau Artist Society; Lou Kam Ieng, President of the Macau Multi Media Photographic Association; Alice Kok, President of Art For All Society; Tsang Kok Ming, President of the Macau Contemporary Ink Painting Association; Dr. Wilfred Wong, President, Sands China Ltd.; Chongnin Sam, Vice President of Corporate Communications and Community Affairs, Sands China Ltd.; Irene Chio, Vice President of Market Development, Sands China Ltd. and Vikram Reddy, Regional Vice President and General Manager of Four Seasons Hotel Macao.

Water Poon is an artist, photographer, designer and film director. His works have been exhibited, published and collected worldwide, including at the Beijing Art Museum and National Dr. Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall in Taipei. Over his career he has produced over 50 photo albums, art books and travel notes. He has won a variety of awards including Hong Kong’s Ten Outstanding Professional Youth of the Year, Hong Kong Artist of the Year for photography and the Martell Artist of the Year in Shanghai, China.

Grand Atelier on Level 6 of The Grand Suites at Four Seasons is a stunning space, providing an expansive 6,400 square feet dedicated to exclusive cooperation with premium global brands and leading artists, and hosting one-of-a-kind exhibitions and other exciting bespoke events.
