Continues to strengthen professional knowledge for RG Ambassadors

(Macao, June 17, 2021) – Sands China Ltd. invited two local organisations to conduct responsible gaming training sessions for Responsible Gaming Ambassadors from Sands China's table games department May 26, June 1 and June 2 at The Venetian® Macao's Adelson Advanced Education Centre.

Facilitated by the Youth Volunteers Association of Macau (AJVM) and the Macao Gaming Industry Employees Home Integrated Services Centre, the initiative is part of Sands China's ongoing training for its Responsible Gaming Ambassadors and in support of the Macao SAR government's "Lost Control, Lose Family" responsible gaming promotions.

Entitled Knowing More About Responsible Gaming, the training course aimed to continue strengthening team members' responsible gaming knowledge and was attended by 86 Responsible Gaming Ambassadors.

"Sands China understands the importance of responsible gaming and remains dedicated to ensuring our team members have the knowledge and skills necessary to support each other, their family members and our guests," said Andy Kobel, senior vice president of table games and gaming optimization for Sands China Ltd. "We are grateful to the Youth Volunteers Association of Macau and the Gaming Industry Employees Home for their collaboration with us on this latest training effort as we continue working with local organisations to promote responsible gaming in the Macao community."

AJVM's trainer focused on the topics of self-exclusion and third-party exclusion, including how to apply for self-exclusions using responsible gaming kiosks, and the eight preferable attitudes and behaviours related to responsible gaming.

Austin Vong, president of the Youth Volunteers Association of Macau, said: "We are thankful to Sands China for the invitation. This training allowed our participants to further understand the functions of responsible gaming kiosks and the responsible gaming mobile app, so that they can use these platforms to help those in need."

The Macao Gaming Industry Employees Home Integrated Services Centre's training concentrated on Macao's casino entry ban regulations for gaming practitioners. A game-based training activity helped team members better understand the risks of gambling addiction and how it can affect family life, and gave them a glimpse into the experience of people with gambling disorder.

Pak Kin Pong, supervisor at the Macao Gaming Industry Employees Home Integrated Services Centre, said: "The focus of this training co-organised with Sands China was to let participants experience the mental struggle of someone with gambling disorder and learn the correct measures to help them walk out of a difficult situation through role-playing exercises, helping them develop empathy and cultivate a more active attitude to help people with similar problems."

Sands China remains committed to the well-being of its guests and recognises the importance of responsible gaming to the Macao community. Sands China was the first gaming operator in Macao to launch a self-exclusion programme in 2004; in 2007, the company pioneered incorporating responsible gaming training into its company-wide team member orientation programme and established its comprehensive responsible gaming programme — with the goals of contributing to the continuous development of the Macao community, bearing corporate responsibility in addressing social issues and developing an environment and a culture of responsible gaming in Macao.
