‘Echoes of a Golden Age’ Art Exhibition Running Now at Sands Gallery
121 works, including stamps, from nine legendary local contemporary artists
(Macao, Sept. 25, 2024)– In celebration of the 75th anniversary of the founding the People’s Republic of China and the 25th anniversary of Macao’s return to the motherland, Sands China’s latest art exhibition is on display at Sands Gallery, titled Echoes of a Golden Age: Macro Events through the Micro Visions of Macao’s Legendary Contemporary Artists. Running until Jan. 5, the exhibition features a quarter century of works from nine local contemporary art masters with extensive experience in their specialised disciplines: Lai Ieng, Lok Hei, Ng Wai Kin, Ung Vai Meng, Lio Man Cheong, Lei Tak Seng, Chan Hin Io, Ao Kuan Kin, and Lam Chi Ian.
Echoes of a Golden Age is organised by Sands China, co-organised by the Macau Artist Society, and curated by exhibition artist Lam Chi Ian, with the support of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Macao Government Tourism Office, and Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau.
Echoes of a Golden Age has swiftly attracted public attention, with Sands China having arranged a guided tour for 18 professors and students from City University of Macau Tuesday. Artist-curator Lam and artist Ng Wai Kin shared their experiences and insights on artistic creation, careers in the industry, curating the exhibition, and the development of local art, in hopes of passing down Macao’s unique cultural heritage.
With such a wide variety of works on display, the exhibition is a must-see for art enthusiasts, stamp collectors, and the casual viewer alike.
The free-admission Echoes of a Golden Age: Macro Events through the Micro Visions of Macao’s Legendary Contemporary Artists is open for public viewing 11 a.m.-7 p.m. daily until Jan. 5 at Sands Gallery on the 6th floor of the Grand Suites at Four Seasons.
