The Venetian Arena Completes Successful Fire Drill
Effective emergency response measures in place for newly upgraded arena
(Macao, Nov. 5, 2024)– A large-scale fire drill was completed successfully Tuesday at The Venetian Arena, The Venetian® Macao’s newly renovated and technologically upgraded entertainment venue.
Around 400 team members participated in the 11 a.m. fire drill, which tested the emergency response procedures and evacuation plan for the arena, which is scheduled to reopen later this month. The drill simulated a fire at the arena’s third floor back-of-house area during a concert. Alarms were activated and an evacuation announcement was made, after which team members promptly and safely evacuated audience members to designated outdoor assembly areas.
The Macao Fire Services Bureau dispatched six emergency vehicles and 29 staff members to conduct firefighting and evacuation operations on the scene, including simulated medical attention and hospital transport for a team member. The Bureau also deployed its staff to the Fire Command Centre at The Venetian Macao to help coordinate the emergency response effort.
“Sands China places the safety of our guests, visitors, and team members as one of our highest priorities,” said Sean McCreery, executive vice president of operations. “We are grateful to the Fire Services Bureau and the Public Security Police Force for their cooperation and support, and to our team members from different departments for their exemplary response. It was their concerted effort that made the fire drill a successful one, ensuring that all emergency response measures are in place for the reopening of The Venetian Arena later this month.”
Formerly the Cotai Arena, The Venetian Arena features state-of-the-art VIP amenities and suites, new decor, and technical upgrades that ensure it offers the best arena acoustics in Macao.
