Sands China Makes MOP 300K Donation to Caritas Macau for
Charity Bazaar and Charity Run
21 straight years of company donations
(Macao, Nov. 25, 2024) – Sands China Ltd. recently donated MOP 300,000 to support two annual Caritas Macau events: the 55th Charity Bazaar and the 2024 Charity Run. It is the 21st year in a row that Sands China is donating to Caritas Macau and helping raise public awareness of its services. Additionally, the company has once again organised its Sands Cares Ambassadors to participate in the two events, joining the community’s concerted efforts for this grand undertaking.
Both events raised funds for Caritas Macau’s AgEnrich Senior Service, which is aimed providing in-home companionship and daily living support for the elderly.
2024 Charity Run
Sands China donated MOP 100,000 to Caritas Macau recently to support the organisation’s 2024 Charity Run. Annie Lam, Sands China’s director of community affairs, presented a ceremonial cheque to Paul Pun Chi Meng, secretary-general of Caritas Macau at a cheque presentation ceremony Oct. 6 at the University of Macau.
A group of Sands Cares Ambassadors attended the ceremony and participated in the charity run to help raise public awareness of the importance of living a healthy lifestyle, building an inclusive local community, and enhancing family harmony.
55th Charity Bazaar
“Bring joy to your neighbours, blessings permeate far beyond” was the theme of this year’s bazaar, aimed at promoting joy and positive energy, and passing on wisdom and blessings to more people. Caritas Macau will use all funds raised from the bazaar for its operations.
A total of 100 Sands Cares Ambassadors volunteered to run a fundraising game booth at the bazaar Nov. 2-3, with visitors to the booth winning prizes that included hotel accommodation, food and beverage vouchers, and tickets to Harry Potter™: The Exhibition – Macao, at The Londoner® Macao. Sands China was the first integrated resort operator to join the Charity Bazaar in 2011, making this year the 14th consecutive year of setting up game booths for the public to enjoy.
Additionally, Sean McCreery, executive vice president of operations for Sands China Ltd., presented a MOP 200,000 ceremonial cheque for Caritas Macau to Pun at the bazaar’s opening ceremony on Nov. 2 at Nam Van Nautical Centre.

Sands China has been making annual donations to Caritas Macau since 2004. The funds help support Caritas Macau’s operational expenses and its efforts to develop and implement social services in the community.
Sands China launched the Sands Cares Ambassador programme in August 2009, becoming the first integrated resort operator in Macao to promote volunteering services and establish a volunteer team. The company is celebrating the 15th anniversary of the programme this year, whose membership now surpasses 3,300 volunteers from across all Sands China properties and comprising all levels of team members.
The company’s community work is part of the“ Sands Cares”corporate citizenship programme.
