Sands China Earns 31 Human Resource Awards in 2024

Rcognised for fostering diversified talent development and enhancing employee experience

Sands China garnered 31 human resource awards in 2024, including accolades in areas such as occupational safety and health (OSH), talent development, and corporate culture – a testament to the company’s focus on placing team members at the heart of its strategy. The company strives to continue raising the bar and setting new benchmarks in the industry as it further reinforces its commitment to building a happy workplace, pursuing social harmony, and achieving excellence in corporate social responsibility.

As an integral part of Macao, Sands China has created a multitude of job opportunities in a diverse range of industries over the past two decades, including MICE, hospitality, catering, entertainment, and retail, in support of the Macao SAR government’s vision of “1+4” economic diversification. The company has proactively launched innovative and trailblazing human resource initiatives, thereby improving systems and optimising resources to meet the ever-changing dynamics of the market.

Notable highlights from Sands China’s human resource successes in 2024 included recognition by the Association for Talent Development (ATD), “2024 The 4th National Human Resources Innovation Competition,” and the 2024 Catering Industry OSH Incentive Programme.

Association for Talent Development (ATD) Excellence in Practice (EIP) Award
In 2024, as a result of its innovative “The Knowledge – Be a Londoner Guide” programme, Sands China received the well-respected Excellence in Practice (EIP) Award from the Association for Talent Development (ATD) in the United States.  Established in 1943, ATD is the most influential international professional organisation in the field of talent development and is dedicated to recognising the achievements of companies in talent development strategies and practices. This award recognised Sands China’s investment and efforts on all-round talent development, which supports the SAR government’s policy of “Building Macao through Talent Training.” 

Sands China debuted the “Be a Londoner Guide” programme to motivate team members to progressively earn Londoner Ambassador pins as they learn how to personalise and enhance the experience of guests at The Londoner® Macao. More than 13,000 team members have participated in the programme, which offers an interactive and creative learning model to help team members gain a deep understanding of the sophisticated features of The Londoner Macao.

The 4th National Human Resources Innovation Competition
China’s “2024 The 4th National Human Resources Innovation Competition” is organised by the China Chamber of International Commerce Human Resource Management Commission and HRLead and is co-hosted by the Guangdong Human Resource Management Association. Recognised as an authoritative event in the human resources industry, the well-known competition attracted over 500 participants in 2024. The top 10% of companies with outstanding performance were awarded the title of “Leading Brand.” For this annual competition, Sands China received an impressive five awards for its inventive and cutting-edge human resource initiatives:

2024 Catering Industry OSH Incentive Programme
The 2024 Catering Industry OSH Incentive Programme is jointly organised by the Macao Labour Affairs Bureau in collaboration with a number of government departments, academic institutions and other tourism and catering industry institutions. It recognises enterprises and practitioners with outstanding performance in occupational safety and health, with a view to raising the industry’s OSH awareness. Ten Sands China restaurants and 21 team members were recognised by the OSH Incentive Programme; the company also had the largest number of participating restaurants among Macao’s integrated resort operators. Over the years, Sands China has rolled out various initiatives to embed occupational safety and health in every corner of its operations, encouraging employees to implement OSH principles in their daily work.

Sands China’s major awards in 2024 also included the Employee Experience Awards 2024 Hong Kong, Employee Experience Awards 2024 Singapore, 2024 OneFLAG Awards, HRoot Award 2024 Best Employer, Asia Best Workplace (Mainland China) and 2024 Employer Branding Creativity Awards.

Sands China continually rolls out advanced programmes to foster comprehensive staff development, including through collaboration with leading local and international education institutions.
