(Macao, June 25, 2025) – More than 300 volunteers from Sands China, Caritas Macau’s “Longevity” Special Care Centre and Macau Polytechnic University (MPU) worked together to assemble 3,000 food kits at The Venetian® Macao Wednesday for the fourth annual Sands Cares Global Food Kit Build, providing food assistance to local populations in need.
The food kits contain 16 items, including soup pack, biscuits, and staple foods like cooking oil, rice, oatmeal, noodles and canned food. The items were purchased from local SMEs and charitable organisations, including soup packs from Tung Sin Tong and reusable kit bags from Fuhong Society of Macau. Sands China targets to donate all 3,000 kits, weighing 30 tons in total. Sands Cares Ambassadors will help Caritas Macau deliver the kits to beneficiaries such as elderly residents, the disabled, poor families, aid recipients, and food bank recipients.
Sands China expressed its gratitude to the elderly volunteers from “Longevity” Centre and the MPU students by presenting them Volunteer Service Certificates for participating in the service project – in hopes of encouraging the public to participate in community volunteer service and care for the disadvantaged.
“We have held the Sands Cares Global Food Kit Build for four consecutive years and assembled 11,600 food kits since 2022, practicing our corporate social responsibility with practical actions that help disadvantaged communities,” said Dr. Wilfred Wong, executive vice chairman of Sands China Ltd. “When our team members volunteer their personal time for service activities, the Sands Cares concept turns into tangible warmth, injecting positive energy into the Macao community. We sincerely thank all community partners for working with us to assemble these food kits, thereby benefiting more people in need and making meaningful impact in the community.”
Paul Pun Chi Meng, secretary-general of Caritas Macau, said: “We would like to thank Sands China for its generous donation of 3,000 food kits to Caritas’ service recipients this year, including the elderly, people recovering from illness and low-income families. This kind gesture is not only material support, but also a manifestation of society’s care for the vulnerable. Sands China’s long-term partnership with Caritas Macau demonstrates the value of companies and social welfare organisations working together to build a caring community. The materials in the food kits will directly benefit families in need and reduce their daily burden. Caritas Macau hopes to continue this spirit and work together to promote more projects that benefit the community in the future.”
The Sands Cares Food Kit Build is one of three global Sands Cares initiatives, along with the Sands Cares Global Hygiene Kit Build with Clean the World and the Sands Cares Accelerator, a programme that helps advance non-profit organisations to greater community impact. Together, these programs unify Sands properties in common goals to address global priorities including hardship relief, disaster response and preparedness, education, cultural and natural heritage, and local business and non-profit partner development to meet the needs of Sands’ communities.
Initiatives like the Sands Cares Food Kit Build are central to Sands China’s commitment to social causes and community involvement. The company’s community work is part of Sands Cares , the global corporate citizenship programme of parent company Las Vegas Sands Corp.
