"Illumination – Zhaoying Zhang & Sisi Wong Dual Solo Exhibition"
Curated by Bin Hu, Dean of the School of Arts and Humanities of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, "Illumination – Zhaoying Zhang & Sisi Wong Dual Solo Exhibition" is an exhibition of works from two winning artists in the "Time Is On My Side -2021 Greater Bay Area Young Artists Scheme" – Zhaoying Zhang and Sisi Wong. Zhaoying Zhang's works present a world of various cultural fragments with internationalized perspective, while Sisi Wong likes to take photography and video as her main medium of expression and to record the reflection and refraction of the "illumination" movement by using different materials.

Curator: Hu Bin

Born in Changsha, Hunan Province. Bin Hu graduated from the Fine Arts Department of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts with bachelor's and master's degrees, and has received his Ph.D. from Chinese National Academy of Arts. He has also worked in the editorial department of the Guangdong Art Museum, the office of the Guangzhou Triennial, the art history department and the Art Museum of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, and was the Director of the Art Management Department of the School of Arts and Humanities of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts and the Executive Deputy Director of the Art Museum of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts and a Professor of the Art Management Department. He is now the Dean, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor of the School of Arts and Humanities of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts.

  • BFA in Fine Art, Department of Oil Painting, Sichuan Fine Arts Institute
  • MA in Fine Art, L'Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts
  • Doctoral Student at Macau University of Science and Technology
  • Lecturing at School of Arts and Humanities, Sichuan Fine Arts Institute
  • Postgraduate supervisor at the Sahmyook University
  • As one of the representative figures of the artists amongst the post-1985 generation, works of Zhaoying has an apparent internationalized perspective, which well demonstrates the hybrid mentality across different medium, language, and temporality. Zhaoying has a long history in researching iconology, which strives to re-construct the 'personal domain' with subverted discourses.
  • The first prize in the painting group of 'Time Is On My Side - 2021 Greater Bay Area Young Artists Scheme'.

About Artist: Sisi Wong
  • Sisi Wong was born in Macao in 1984 and moved to Taiwan in her childhood
  • In 2010, she obtained her master's degrees in Fine Art Department from the National Taiwan University of Arts, majoring in mixed media. She now lives in Macau and engages in visual art education
  • Sisi Wong has been committed to photography, video art and video installations for a long time. Over the years, the theme of "Light" has been used to explore the possibility of light reproduction and meaning exploration through photography in various forms of media. As she said, this perseverance to shooting "Light" seems to be trying to look for the personal "Aura" in the vocabulary of photography
