ICBC ePay Presents: National Essence: Hanfu Styling Contest
Traditional Chinese clothing and etiquette systems are an important component of Chinese culture, and the long-standing Han nationality costume culture is splendid and colorful, fully demonstrating the aesthetics and wisdom of the ancients. This year's Sands Shopping Carnival has added the ICBC ePay Presents: National Essence: Hanfu Styling Contest, taking place on July 20 (Saturday), to further promote national culture to the public, enhance cultural confidence, and help establish Macao as an exchange and cooperation base for diverse cultures, highlighted by Chinese culture. This contest is free and open to adults aged 18 or above from cities in the Greater Bay Area. Details of the contest and registration info will be announced later, so stay tuned!

Qualifications: Residents aged 18 or above from Macao and Greater Bay Area cities

Competition method:
- Preliminary round: each contestant shall prepare an audition video no longer than 1 minute for preliminary judging. One hundred contestants will be selected to enter final round. (The person featured in the audition video must be the contestant)
- Semi-final round: - Semi-final round: the 100 selected contestants shall attend the semi-final in person as in the audition video and each prepare a Hanfu styling demonstration within 60 seconds at the stage of Sands Shopping Carnival on 20 July 2024. Forty contestants will be further selected to enter final round on the same day.
- Final round: the 40 selected contestants shall attend the final in person as in the semi-final round and each prepare a Hanfu styling demonstration within 90 seconds, either with the same demonstration or enhanced programme or in a completely new act, on the same stage. Ten outstanding contestants will be awarded the Excellence Award.

*The list of qualified contestants for semi-final and final round will be announced on or before 10 July 2024, and relevant details will be communicated to them by a designated person.

Prizes:

Bank of Communications Co., Ltd. Macau Branch Presents: Rising Stars - Kids Talent Showdown
In order to encourage children to develop their hobbies, enhance their self-confidence, and gain courage to challenge themselves through showcasing their talents, this year’s Sands Shopping Carnival is introducing the Bank of Communications Co., Ltd. Macau Branch Presents: Rising Stars - 2024 Kids Talent Showdown, which is free and open to children aged 5 to 12 years old in cities in the Greater Bay Area. Individuals or groups can showcase a variety of talents and shine on stage!

Competition Dates: 14:30 – 18:30, 21 July 2024

Qualifications: Residents aged 5 – 12 from Macao and Greater Bay Area cities

BOC Smart Kids Presents: Little Master Chef Workshop
Led by Sands China's food and beverage team for three consecutive years, the Little Master Chef Workshop has been one of the most popular family activities of the carnival and has attracted participation from nearly 1,500 children in total in the past four years. The workshop will be held once again this year free of charge with on-site registration. Sign your children up to unleash their talent and make them little master chefs!

Event Dates: 18 – 21 July 2024
Venue: The Venetian Macao Cotai Expo Hall A & B
Session Capacity: 40 children (each child can be accompanied by up to 2 family members)
Eligibility: children ages 4 – 12 (children under 8 years old must be accompanied by at least one family member)
Registration Method: on-site registration, which ends 15 minutes before the start of each session
Workshop Theme: Sands China's celebrity chefs will personally demonstrate and teach participants to make exquisite food items, with different themes every day. The finished food items can be enjoyed on the spot.
 

Sands China strongly believes that the company bears an important responsibility in the development of Macao. We have been devoting resources to the local community for more than a decade and we are committed to promoting the development of local enterprises.

We first launched Sands China's Local Small, Medium and Micro Suppliers Support Programme in 2015, aiming to facilitate opportunities for local suppliers to meet international standards, in support of three types of local businesses jointly identified with the Macao Chamber of Commerce: small and micro enterprises, "Made-in-Macao" companies, and Macao young entrepreneurs.

As part of that initiative, we further launched the F.I.T. programme for local Macao SME suppliers in April 2017. With this programme, the company seeks to increase its procurement spend on all three aforementioned types of local suppliers.

F.I.T. is comprised of three pillars: Financial Support, Invitational Matching, and Training and Development.

• Financial Support

A Sands China Young Entrepreneur Advance Payment Programme was created to help young local entrepreneurs who have limited financial capacity to run their businesses. It targets young Macao entrepreneurs with a staff size of 15 or below, providing them with a 30 per cent advance payment on purchase orders. Sands China successfully cooperated with local banks to launch this special financial support programme mainly for Sands China's SME suppliers.

• Invitational Matching

Sands China hosts targeted trade shows that invite local SMEs to go beyond simply meeting potential Sands China buyers. These invitational matching sessions take the usual procurement process a step further by providing a platform for local SMEs to present and demonstrate their products and services to potential users and buyers at Sands China properties, with the company's full support. The goal is to enhance communication between vendors and users, and to improve the procurement success rate.

• Training and Development

The Sands Procurement Academy, inaugurated in June 2017, aims to develop local SME suppliers by sharing business knowledge and skills, helping them gain experience and capacity to meet international procurement standards. Four types of local SME suppliers were initially targeted – small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), micro-enterprises, Macao young entrepreneurs, and "Made-in-Macao" enterprises – with the programme now open to all local SMEs.

The academy offers tailor-made practical training modules to local SMEs. Upon graduating, they receive a certificate and are given preferential procurement under otherwise equal circumstances. The training programme is the first of its kind in the industry, with 524 SME suppliers having participated to date, with 486 graduates and counting.

In 2023, Sands China established the Sands Resorts Incubation Centre under the umbrella of the F.I.T. programme, dedicated to discovering and supporting innovative local enterprises with development potential.
