Sands Lifestyle Hosts Exclusive Four-Hands Thai Gourmet Event at Michelin Selected The Mews
Featuring a first-time collaboration with Michelin Guide Thailand's inaugural Young Chef of the Year awardee Sujira 'Aom' Pongmorn
(Macao, Apr. 15, 2024) – Sands Lifestyle presented an extraordinary four-hands gastronomic Thai cuisine experience last week as part of its exceptional Sands Celebrity Chef Series. The exclusive nine-course gourmet dinners were held at Michelin Selected restaurant The Mews at The Londoner® Macao in collaboration with Bangkok's fine-dining restaurant Khaan on April 11-13. Featuring the combined talents of chef Nongnuch 'Nuch' Sae-eiw of The Mews and Khaan's executive chef and owner Sujira 'Aom' Pongmorn, the invited VIP guests from across Asia were treated to an unforgettable taste of innovative culinary artistry.
Enhancing the epicurean feast was the natural synergy between the two talented chefs during this first-time collaboration, a result of having much in common. Both chef Nuch and chef Aom are originally from Bangkok and each has worked in senior roles at Michelin starred restaurants. These rising star chefs also share a similar culinary philosophy of re-imagining traditional Thai dishes, and a passion for taking diners on a memorable and curated journey of authentic Thai flavours. And that is exactly what this dynamic duo did during the exclusive four-hands dinners, with each chef taking a turn to present a signature dish.
Chef Nuch began, awakening palates with two flavourful bites, Mieng Kham Lobster, and RAY-RAI Pao Hue, a royal snack featuring a rice flour dumpling crafted into the shape of a bird's nest that cradled grilled abalone adorned with caviar. Chef Aom, Thailand's first winner of the Michelin Guide Young Chef Award, delighted diners when she presented one of her most famous dishes, the umami-rich and wonderfully aromatic Sticky rice wrapped in banana leaf with paddy crab dip. The two inventive chefs also created dishes together including the showstopping taste sensation Crispy Japanese amadai fish fillet with ant eggs and young mangosteen, which left a lasting impression on diners. Each evening was a contemporary homage to Thai cuisine at its finest, with diners captivated by every sensational bite.
Connoisseurs of fine food can look forward to more unique and extraordinary moments from Sands Lifestyle, including exclusive culinary events and once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Next in the Sands Celebrity Chef Series is a visit later in the month by the legendary 'Godfather' of Huaiyang cuisine, Zhou Xiaoyan, celebrity master chef of two-Michelin starred The Huaiyang Garden.
