Sands China’s Diverse Exploration Lab Helps Local Secondary
Students Explore Career Paths
(Macao, July 10, 2025) – Nearly 20 Form 4 students from Macau Anglican College explored career paths at Sands China June 18-20 at The Venetian® Macao, where they enjoyed three days of up-close and hands-on experiences throughout the integrated resort in Sands China’s Diverse Exploration Lab, in alignment with the Macao government’s strategy to support ‘academic, employment, entrepreneurial and career’ development. In order to help promote local youth’s professional development and grow the talent pool for Macao’s moderate economic diversification, the programme aims to aid their career planning and provide them with knowledge of the local tourism industry as they choose their future academic courses.
The Diverse Exploration Lab gives students overviews and professional knowledge on the operation of integrated resorts and future career opportunities within – aiming to inspire participants in academic planning through a variety of experiences at The Venetian Macao:
• A behind-the-scenes, interactive exploration of the operations of the major departments of an integrated resort: entertainment, hotel operations, food and beverage, e-commerce, cybersecurity, MICE, and facilities management
• Exclusive tours: The Venetian Theatre; the heart-of-house team member area; the teamLab SuperNature Macao interactive art space; the convention and exhibition operation, including ballrooms, meeting rooms and Cotai Expo; and The Venetian Macao hotel suites and its facilities maintenance
• A lunch chat with team members from Sands China’s Integrated Resort Business Analyst Development Programme
• A DiSC personality profile workshop
Paulo Cheong, senior vice president of human resources for Sands China Ltd., said: “Sands China has always placed significant importance on talent development. Over the last 20 years, Sands China’s integrated resorts have created over 1,400 new job types and provided over 80,000 job opportunities for Macao residents. We are glad to work closely with local schools to offer the extensive experience and insights of our professional team and our expansive operations to help equip the next generation with information they need for their future academic and career planning. We hope this will lead to more local youth engaging in the tourism industry, thus contributing to the city’s development as a world centre of tourism and leisure.”
Besides running its Diverse Exploration Lab, Sands China has been supporting the career exploration visit series organised by the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) and the Women’s General Association of Macau for three consecutive years. For this year’s series, Sands China invited secondary school students from Saint Joseph Secondary School, Macau Anglican College, and Chan Sui Ki Perpetual Help College to tour Sands China’s hotel rooms, learn from industry experts, and do hands-on activities like making beds and preparing decorative balloons.
