Sands China Showcases Culinary Mastery at
‘2025 International Cities of Gastronomy Fest, Macao’
Strengthening Macao’s Creative City of Gastronomy identity on the global stage
(Macao, July 14, 2025)– Sands China Ltd. is participating in the ‘2025 International Cities of Gastronomy Fest, Macao’, organised by Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and taking place at Macau Fisherman’s Wharf until July 20, 2025. Supporting Macao’s gastronomic aspirations, Sands China is presenting unique culinary offerings and lending its expertise to the event’s multiple programmes. Visitors can indulge in a selection of tempting delicacies and watch live cooking demonstrations.
The 10-day mega event, held in collaboration with UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) cities, highlights Macao’s dynamic ‘tourism + gastronomy’ appeal across three key platforms – International Gastronomy Promenade, International Gastronomy Forum, Macao, and City of Gastronomy Showcase.
Delightfully Whimsical Experiences
Sands China has a striking presence at the International Gastronomy Promenade, which features over 100 stalls from Creative Cities of Gastronomy from around the world.
Its stunning booth has been inspired by Macao’s newest social media hotspot and delectable destination, The Londoner® Macao’s G Bear Cafe. Visitors can try a range of the cafe’s whimsical Insta-worthy treats, including Butter cookie, Chocolate-coated marshmallows, Lemon cake, Chocolate-coated hazelnut praline cookie, Raspberry-filled choux and Portuguese egg tart ice cream, as well as the popular Dubai chocolate bites gift box.
Experts Spice up the Forum
Representing Sands China at the International Gastronomy Forum, Macao, on July 14 was The Londoner Macao’s Executive Sous Chef, Jun Kim. The engaging forum brought together representatives from UNESCO Creative Cities of Gastronomy and knowledgeable experts to share their views, within an overarching theme of “The Spice of Life: Macao’s Culinary Connections”.
Kim joined one of the informative panel discussions as guest speaker, offering his insights on “Spice as a Bridge: Celebrating Cultural Fusion and Communities”, exploring how spices are more than ingredients that add flavour – they have significant influence on culinary traditions and cultural integration.
Renowned Chefs Showcase
Chef Kim will also be captivating foodies at the City of Gastronomy Showcase on July 16 as part of live demonstrations by talented chefs. He will prepare Spicy pan-tossed noodles in baked tofu basket, a flavourful dish originally created by acclaimed chef Edward Lee during a tofu challenge on Netflix’s smash hit, “Culinary Class Wars”.
In addition, on July 14, Sands China fostered community collaboration by inviting chefs of the Macau Special Olympics’ social enterprise – Dream of Sexagenarian 60, SMEs of Sands China’s Entrepreneurship Recruitment Programme for Rua das Estalagens, as well as members of Sands China’s culinary team, to an immersive gourmet event at G Bear Cafe. During a sharing session, chef Kim was joined by chefs Sae-Ton Rattanawalee and Kanokpan Pranweerapaiboon from Phuket’s Krua Kao Kuk, recognised by Michelin Guide Thailand as a Bib Gourmand restaurant. While Kim recreated the above mentioned dish from chef Lee, which is currently available at the café for a limited time, the two Thai chefs presented their restaurant’s signature dish, Phuket-style braised pork belly (Moo Hong).
Sands China’s participation in the food fest underscores its dedication to elevating Macao’s reputation as a haven for global gourmands and its support for MGTO’s initiatives that further cement the city’s reputation as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy.
