Sands China Holds Parenting Seminars for Team Members
Encourages team member work-life balance
(Macao, Dec. 26, 2018) – Sands China Ltd. recently held a series of parenting seminars for team members, aimed at promoting work-life balance and encouraging healthy parent-child relationships.
The four seminars were held at various times Nov. 20-30, with topics covering sex education; parent-child communication and discipline skills; parental emotional management; and family and work.
The programme aims to help team members better anticipate their children’s developmental changes, carry out child-rearing responsibilities and provide early learning experiences. Such seminars and workshops are part of Sands China’s care for the well-being of its team members, extending to their families and their loved ones.
The seminars also help team members acquire skills to improve their parenting style and communication with their children, in order to minimise the risk of child maltreatment and reduce disruptive behaviour in children. The skills taught in the seminars can have a positive impact on children’s self-esteem, school achievement, cognitive development, and behaviour.
The parenting seminars were done in coordination with the Taipa Education Centre, an initiative of the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (DSEJ). Speakers invited by DSEJ to conduct the seminars include representatives from the Child Protection Centre, Against Child Abuse Macau Association (ACAM), the Macau Parenting Association, and the Young Men’s Christian Association of Macau (YMCA).
“Sands China values its team members as the company’s greatest asset, and we consider it our duty to take care of them, and to provide support at the workplace and in their lives,” said Wen Hongyan, senior vice president of human resources for Sands China Ltd. “Family harmony is an important part of an individual’s overall well-being and happiness, and a healthy parent-child relationship leads to improved child development and a sense of fulfilment for the parent. We are very pleased to be able to offer these parenting seminars for the benefit of our team members and their families, in support of the DSEJ’s objectives of valuing the physical and psychological development of children and teenagers.”
Sands China’s parenting seminars are part of the company’s ongoing efforts to foster a positive and supportive work environment for its more than 28,000 team members, and to make Sands China Macao’s employer of choice.
