Sands Resorts Macao Receives Hygiene Certification from Leading Inspection Agency Bureau Veritas

Anti-epidemic strategy to combat COVID-19 throughout integrated resorts ‘exceeds local regulations and requirements’

(Macao, August 10, 2020) – Sands Resorts Macao has become the first Macao hospitality group to receive certification for its five properties from global certification organisation Bureau Veritas, exceeding all relevant local anti-epidemic regulations and requirements.

Bureau Veritas, working with Cleveland Clinic as medical advisors, reviewed and evaluated Sands’ safety and hygiene precautions under the Sands SafeStay programme as well as auditing its five properties – The Venetian® Macao; The Parisian Macao; The Plaza Macao; Sands Cotai Central including Conrad® Macao Cotai Strip; and Sands® Macao. All were certified with Bureau Veritas’ stringent Safe Guard Hygiene Excellence and Safety Label protocol.

The initiative was part of an agreement with Las Vegas Sands, with Bureau Veritas conducting full audits of Sands properties worldwide, inspecting everything from hotel rooms to laundry processing, storage, delivery routes for in-room dining, kitchens and more.

The Sands SafeStay programme was launched earlier this year. Focused on ensuring guest and staff safety and peace of mind, it incorporates hundreds of elements and a range of precautions, targeting three key areas – sanitisation, prevention and contactless services.

Sean McCreery, Senior Vice President – Resort Operations, Sands China Ltd., said: “We are delighted to have received this key hygiene certification from Bureau Veritas, a respected and trusted organisation. The safety and peace of mind of our guests, visitors and team members is an absolute priority to us. With the Bureau Veritas certification and our comprehensive Sands SafeStay measures in place, we hope to provide trust and confidence to all visitors to our properties, and the assurance that our integrated resorts have achieved industry-leading levels of cleanliness and hygiene.”

Designed to support the operational restart activities of the hospitality and restaurant industries, the Safe Guard Hygiene Excellence and Safety Label is a suite of services offered through Bureau Veritas’ “Restart Your Business with BV” programme, to ensure businesses restart operations safely. It also offers an extra layer of assurance to their guests, employees and suppliers.
