Sands Cares Ambassadors Treat Children with Autism to a Fun-Filled Day at The Venetian and The Parisian

Group enjoys Qube Kingdom, buffet lunch and Keith Haring Maze

(Macao, Dec. 10, 2018) — A group of 25 Sands Cares Ambassadors hosted 100 members of the Macau Autism Association Saturday at The Parisian Macao and The Venetian^® Macao, taking them to Qube Kingdom and the Keith Haring Maze Macao, and painting recycled bottles with them – providing opportunities for autistic children to interact and play with their parents, and gain creative inspiration.

The activity served to raise awareness of autism while exploring and demonstrating the potential of autistic children, helping them integrate into society. It is also one in a year-long series of celebratory activities leading up to the 10th anniversary of the Sands Cares Ambassador programme in August 2019, with the theme Spreading Love and Embracing Our Community.

After gathering at Qube Kingdom Saturday, the Sands Cares Ambassadors accompanied the association’s children and their parents to play at the kids play zone at The Parisian Macao before having a specially arranged gluten-free buffet lunch together. The group then headed to the Keith Haring Maze at The Venetian Macao, where they enjoyed interactive games and sculptural renditions of Haring’s well-known positive-message artwork. They ended their time together with an eco-friendly art activity, in which they painted on recycled bottles provided by the association.

“Our members really enjoyed this outing,” said Nicole Chan Sio Man, director general of the Macau Autism Association. “It gave the children and their parents a chance to enjoy a fun activity together, and the volunteers from Sands China were great hosts. Activities like these are important for raising public awareness of autism and for giving autistic children opportunities to have positive experiences interacting with their environment.”

The Sands Cares Ambassador programme was established in August 2009 to give Sands China team members an outlet for serving the local community by organising community activities and initiatives that work toward creating a better Macao. With membership comprising volunteers from across all Sands China properties – Sands Macao, The Venetian Macao, The Plaza® Macao, Sands® Cotai Central and The Parisian Macao – the Sands Cares Ambassadors have contributed 94,000 hours of voluntary community service since the programme’s founding.
