Sands China Celebrates SAR 20th Anniversary with Local Community with Macao Creative Pop-Up Store

(Macao, Nov. 30, 2019) – In celebration of the 20th anniversary of Macao’s handover to China, Sands China Ltd. is launching the Macao Creative Pop-Up Store – a platform for local nongovernmental organisations and designers to display and sell their arts and craft products to guests and visitors at The Venetian® Macao.
 

Supported by the Macao Government Tourism Office, the Cultural Affairs Bureau, and the Social Welfare Bureau, the initiative provides a unique opportunity for disadvantaged groups in Macao to showcase their talents, thereby contributing to the continued development of Macao’s cultural and creative industries – part of Sands China’s commitment to the local Macao community.

The Macao Creative Pop-Up Store has been built for four local nongovernmental organisations to display and sell their arts and craft products until Dec. 20 in a prime location at The Venetian Macao – where daily visitation surpasses 100,000. The free platform gives Macau IC2 Association, Fuhong Society of Macau, Macau Special Olympics, and Macau Handicraft and Creative People Association a chance to showcase their products to tourists and local residents, in support of their organisations and the local art scene.
 

The Macao Creative Pop-Up Store features more than 100 types of items, including umbrellas, t-shirts, shopping bags, scarves, key chains, magnets, and others.
 

The initiative aims to allow local residents and visitors to get to know more about Macao’s cultural and creative products and design concepts, while drawing public attention to disadvantaged groups in Macao, thereby promoting social integration and community inclusion.
 

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held outside The Golden Peacock and McSorley's Old Ale House at The Venetian Macao Saturday, attended by officiating guests: Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes; Head of the Department for Promoting the Cultural and Creative Industries of the Cultural Affairs Bureau Ho Hong Pan; Acting Head of the Department of Family and Community Services Lam Son Wa; Director of Fuhong Society of Macau Jennifer Chau; Chief Executive Officer of Macau Special Olympics Hetzer Siu; President of Macau IC2 Association Antonio Leong; Director of Macau Handicraft and Creative People Association Gigi Lee; Senior Vice President of Special Projects, Product Strategy and Development for Sands China Ltd. Julian Chow; and Senior Vice President of Convention and Venetian Operations Gene Capuano.
